I've been watching the WSOP 2008 coverage from ESPN the last few weeks with great interrest. Not only because I was in Las Vegas at the time of the event, but also because I'm familiar with a lot more of the names now and I saw a lot of big name pros getting quite far in the event. I would have loved to see a big name pro at the final table but I guess we will have to do with Chino Reem. Chino is a likable character and a very good player from what I've seen, so I'm happy to see he made the final table with a decent chip stack.
The other players at the final table are all amateurs and semi pros, I really hope this year will be the real comeback of the pros. This would really show that poker IS a game of skill, not just a gambling game like blackjack or roulette. That, in turn, could help turn around the 'Unlawfull internet gambling act' that was enforced in the USA this year.... I don't agree with that law and really hope for the US players' sake it will get changed now that Obama is leading the pack over there.
