We just got back from Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world. It was an awesome holiday, 18 days in total of which we spent a weekend in San Diego as well. For that little side trip we rented a car and Flora drove through the desert for 6 hours straight. That was an experience on its own. Vegas itself was great once again. Even though we had been there before it was great to see the excitement everywhere and be able to play a little games ourselves too. Mainly, of course, poker. I honestly didn't keep exact track of our wins and losses, but we both won enough tournaments to make a little profit. Not to mention the amount of stuff we learned about poker. And lessons are worth a lot in this game.
We saw some shows, went shopping in the Outlet centers, gambled and played a lot of poker tournaments. Of course we also enjoyed the great food there, buffets, huge steaks, tacos, everything got stuffed down our little mouths. I certainly gained a few pounds, which isn't a bad thing in my case. Since we were first staying at the Golden Nugget hotel and casino, we also got a chance to swim in the awesome pool they have. Inside the pool, is an aqaurium with huge fish swimming in it, including a couple of sharks. If you're feeling really brave you can take the slide which will actually take you through the inside of the aqaurium between the sharks. The weather was 'hot', to say the least. But because of the low humidity, the heat doesn't bother you as much. Just keep taking those free drinks they offer and you end up well hydrated and drunk of your nuts. So that's what we did. I can highly recommend a tiny little casino downtown, you'll find it if you walk towards the Plaza hotel and look at the end on your left. There will be 1 or 2 women there with Mardi Gras beads, which you get for free if you enter. They will also immediatelly order a drink for you as you are welcomed into the casino. The drinks there are very strong and the slot machines (which is all they have) are pretty loose so you can sit down for a while and not go broke too fast. In one of the first tournaments I won, we met a really cool guy who was looking to move to Vegas. After I played him headsup (and he got lucky) we went out to dinner together and after that we met up at different poker tournaments in downtown Las Vegas about every day. Very cool guy who we will certainly stay in touch with.
After we came home, we had major problems getting back into the normal rhythm of life and especially the Dutch timezone. I think it took a week for me to fully adjust my biorythm clock thingy. I also ended up with something the doctor thinks is a trapped nerve. Bassically I can't feel a certain part of my lef anymore ... very weird stuff. I'm alright though, it hurts when I sleep for some reason. We did take lots of pictures and video, so expect a post with some nice pictures quickly after this. The video I will need to edit, which means I need to make space on my hd. Don't expect that to happen anytime soon.
