Joomla Modul

Installing and configuring the 'TagClouds' module PDF E-mail
Saturday, 07 June 2008

The TagClouds component will crawl all your content and based on the words that are most used, it will create a 'cloud' of keywords. You can display the cloud in a module on your site, when a tag / keyword is clicked, it activates a search on your site for articles containing that tag / keywords. This is nice for your visitors but also good for SEO purposes as it creates keyword rich links on your frontpage to documents deeper in your site.

A note before you get started, this module is best installed after you have added some actual content items !

First download and install the 'TagClouds' module :

Download the TagClouds module

Guide to installing new Joomla components, modules and plugins

Next, configure and publish the module :

Go to modules / site modules

Now click on the TagClouds 2.0 module to configure it

Choose your module position and order

Choose 'yes' to publish the module

Below, where it says 'generate tags from' you will need to choose intro text or full text, depending on where you usually write the most of the article. In the case of this site, i only use intro text (choosing full text would display an empty coud of tags).

Click on save and check in the module list to verify that it's published

Open your website in your browser and see if it works

You will probably see now that you have to add some 'stopwords' to the configuration that need to be skipped

(this can be done in the configuration)

That's it .. you now have a pretty bubble with tags on your site.

page clean, as a default 'Bookmarks' configuration makes for a very busy page with too many internal links.
